The Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux reaches the population through its various directorates. The Direction générale de la santé publique focuses on improving, protecting and promoting the health and well being of the population. Its mandate is to define, promote and update orientations and strategies relative to public health protection and the control of infectious diseases, as well as to ensure these new directions are implemented.
The mission of the Service de lutte contre les infections transmissibles sexuellement et par le sang (SLITSS) is to suggest orientations and coordinate measures to combat HIV (human immunodeficiency virus), HCV (hepatitis C virus) and other STI (sexually transmitted infections).
Our Service also promotes the health and well being policy directions and recommendations contained in the Québec Public Health Program (Programme national de santé publique). In addition, it works with partners in the network to implement and follow-up on these recommendations. Finally, it ensures that the outcomes defined in these documents are achieved.
