Mr. Robert Salois

Robert Salois was appointed Quebec Health and Welfare Commissioner in August of 2006, after more than 35 years of a distinguished career in dentistry, first with the Canadian Armed Forces then at his own private practice. During these years, he was actively involved in a number of professional dentistry organizations. He was the president of the Order of Dentists of Quebec during twelve years. He is also a founding member of the Canadian Dental Regulatory Authorities Federation and was until recently its vice-president. In 2006, Dr. Salois received the Canadian Dental Association’s Distinguished Service Award in recognition of outstanding service to dentistry. He has also been honoured with awards from the Royal College of Dentists of Canada, the Pierre Fauchard Academy and the American College of Dentists. He has always shown a keen interest in the organisation of the health and social services system and has been preoccupied by the appropriate use of new technologies in service delivery.
