Mr. Jacques Ramsay

Jacques Ramsay is Deputy Commissioner, Appraisal and Analysis, to the Health and Welfare Commissioner. Dr Ramsay is an M.D. and holds a Master’s in Health Law, specializing in the reform of medical and professional responsibility in the health care field. He holds a post-graduate diploma in Public Health Research and Evaluation from Flinders University in Adelaide, Australia and is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP). He has practised medicine in many countries and was able to share this expertise as a lecturer, from 2005 to 2009, in the Master’s in Health Law and Policies program, in the Faculty of Law at Université de Sherbrooke. Since 2005, Dr Ramsay has been a member of the Groupe vigilance pour la sécurité des soins, a panel of experts that advises the Minister of Health and Social Services on the safety of health care. Since 2005, he has been a permanent coroner with the Québec Coroner’s Office.
