The mass vaccination clinics are the most effective and efficient way to vaccinate the most children aged 5 to 19 in the shortest time possible. School bus transportation will be proposed to facilitate the immunization of children attending an elementary or secondary school. Schools will inform parents of the arrangements made in their region for the vaccination of children. Certain regions may implement special initiatives to take into account characteristics specific to their territory. For more information, consult the list of school bodies of the Ministère de l'Éducation, des Loisirs et du Sport (french only).
Flu clinics are places where people with a flulike syndrome can receive care. Note that there is no vaccination in flu clinics! They are being opened progressively where need be, based on flu activity and the number of cases observed in each region. For more information on clinics (who they are for, what to bring along, which services are provided on-site, etc.), go to the flu clinics information page. To find out whether flu clinics have been opened in your region and where they are located, consult the list of flu clinics.
Depending on vaccine availability, vaccination for the influenza A (H1N1) virus will begin with health-care workers (including those in private practices, pharmacists, ambulance attendants, and first responders) as well as individuals at risk of complications in Group 1. Vaccination will then proceed for the remainder of the population according to conditions implemented in each region. Consult the directory of pandemic influenza A (H1N1) vaccination centers for the dates, locations, and schedules.
For more information about vaccination, consult the Influenza A(H1N1) spreads easily. Get vaccinated! pamphlet.
November 15 to 21, 2009 Quebec's Drug awareness week runs this year under the theme of " Where are you at?". The campaign's goal is to encourage young people to make informed decisions about addiction and to encourage parents to use their influence and their special relationship with their children to work against addiction in young people. The main goal of this campaign is to emphasize that depression is an illness that can strike anyone, at any age, regardless of gender or social status, but that it can be overcome. This campaign continues the struggle already led by the Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux against prejudice about depression and for a change in perceptions and attitudes towards those affected by it.
